Review by Tony Cannella

With 60-songs, 60-bands and over 4 hours worth of music, "World of Glass" has got to be the mother of all compilation albums. I can’t remember when a compilation this comprehensive saw the light of day, and it sure is musical nirvana for all fans of the Femme Metal genre. The best part about it, it is a free download at the World of Glass web site, and you can find the URL at the bottom of this review. One thing that the "World of Glass" compilation shows us is how vast the Femme Metal landscape truly is, with bands of all styles and presentations well represented. Another cool thing about compilations such as this, you can sometimes find a gem in a style of music that normally you wouldn’t be compelled to investigate. "World of Glass" features many great moments, too numerous to mention all of them, but some of the highlights were, but not limited to: "Last Dream, First Hope" by Naos, "Energy Vampire" by Dharma, the always ferocious Solsikk (one of my favorite Femme Metal bands at the moment), the wonderfully unique Pin-Up Went Down, the all out power/death metal assault of Harpia Deiis (this band simply has a huge sound), Aperion, and Syrens Call and that is just the first disc. The next two discs keeps up the consistency level with such great bands as: On Thorns I Lay, Khaelys, Blindfall, Kerstin Bischof, Iluminato and Pythia. Whew, and that’s not even scratching the surface. "World of Glass" is more than just a compilation, it’s more like a Femme Metal encyclopedia. For fans that are always on the lookout for new bands, this compilation is a great place to start. So, start downloading and enjoy!
