Interview by Lindz Riot

In the world of Heavy Industrial Rock there has been a calling for a strong female fronted band for many years now. There are many great female led industrial acts out there, along with a mass of heavy rock bands blazing a trail with a siren. For a long time I have been searching for a band that has a perfect blend of both. Recently I found Sin7 Sins and it has been a pleasure to my ears as well as a pleasure to interview their front woman Lotus. Her voice is at times angry and full of angst and at other times sad and sexy. Backed with a great mix of electro beats and harsh guitars it’s a recipe for irresistible. Though they are a small act at the moment, they show a ton of potential and once the right audience finds them I know the sky will be their limit.

Hello Lotus! Thank you so much for doing this interview with us here at Femme Metal Webzine.

No thanks, it's a pleasure to do so :)

First of all I wanted to know: How did Sin7Sins come together? Who started the project and when did you join the band?

Gen Morphine and I started Sin7sinS, we started as a project which soon grew out to a real band. Sin7sinS started to become a full band when we found the band members it was missing, this was at the end of 2007.

How did you guys come to form your heavy industrial rock sound? What are some of the bands influences?

The band is mostly influenced by bands like Rammstein and Marilyn Manson. My personal influences are Anneke van Giersbergen (the Gathering) and Agnete (Animal Alpha).

Is writing in the band a group effort or do the songs only come from specific members?

Gen Morphine is the man behind Sin7sinS, he writes all the music. Together with Gen, I help him with the vocal parts and the lyrics.

What inspires the dark themes behind your songs? Are they real life stories or fictional ones?

Some of them are real life stories but most of them are fictional. We are inspired by things in live such as drugs, sex, religion and politics.

Always powerful topics indeed. So since the release of "Perversion LTD", what has the response been like?

The responses are great! The press and the audience is very enthusiastic.

What was the experience like recording this album?

It was a great experience to be busy with something that is so important for us and to see the progress during the process.

Congratulations on your current tour and playing with Epica! How are you finding the live response to your music has been? How has being on the road been so far for you?

Thank you! The shows with Epica were amazing, the crowd gave us so much energy, they were great! We get a lot of nice reactions from the people! We just started touring, but being on the road is one of the nicest things on earth! I could get used to it ;)

How do you like being the front person of Sin7Sins?

It's the best thing that ever happened to me. This is the thing I always wanted to do and certainly now, when the album is out and we are signed by a great label and we start touring... it is a great experience.

So when did music start for you? At what age did you start singing? Do you play any instruments?

Music started for me when I was a little child (don't ask me the age). When I was 14 years old I knew that I wanted to become the front lady of a band. I was a huge fan of bands like Nightwish,The Gathering and The Kovenant... So I started to take some serious singing lessons. After 3 years I did an audition for my first band, this was the band where I met Gen Morphine for the first time. The band broke up after a year and a half and then Gen and I started our own band...Sin7sinS ;)

What have you been currently listening to lately?

I still love The Kovenant, but I also listen to bands like Rammstein, In Flames, Stone Sour and Deathstars.

What can we expect for the future of Sin7Sins?

A lot of live shows, a second album at the end of this year and a music video ;)
